Boutique Hotel & Urban Hostel in Edinburgh

In 2019, CoDE converted a former courthouse and jail into a Hybrid Capsule Hotel/Pod Hostel in the heart of Edinburgh.
The CoURT
CODE The Court is built in a former courthouse and police station from 1845. The police left the property in the 1980s, and the building was converted to offices until Code Concepts acquired the property in 2018. The renovation preserved and celebrated the building’s remarkable past - featuring capsule dorms inspired by Japanese-style pod living and unique private rooms located within the former prison cells
The Court was completed in August 2019 and is currently the best rated hostel across all OTA's and Google in Edinburgh.
In 2025, the property expanded further with the refurbishment of the attic level, creating eight new premium en‑suite private rooms. These rooms offer enhanced comfort and elevated design while remaining closely connected to the building’s heritage.
Today, our focus is firmly on guest experience and community-building. We’re shaping The Court into an experiential hotel - offering unique activities, events, and curated experiences to help guests meet, connect, and create memorable moments during their time in Edinburgh.
